Step Back To Tudor Times At The Bridgend 500 Event
Hear ye, hear ye! Bridgend is stepping back 500 years to Tudor times on Saturday 17 September to celebrate the anniversary of King Henry VIII granting a Royal Market charter to the town!
The town centre will be transformed into a typical market of the Tudor period while there will also be workshops on arrow making, pottery, cooking, spinning, weaving, and other popular 16th century activities, as well as traditional entertainment including storytelling, music, falconry and a court jester.
The event takes place from 10am – 5pm and will also include a visit from King Henry VIII himself, accompanied by one of his six wives! There will be an ‘Audience with the King’ during which the public can question their monarch, while at 12pm the Market Charter ceremony will take place with the King presenting the legal document to the Bridgend Town Mayor.
