New Parking Concession For Blue Badge Holders
Blue badge holders using Caerphilly County Borough Council’s pay and display car parks will shortly be able to benefit from a new concession, aimed at improving accessibility for users.
From 6th February 2017, blue badge holders will be able to park for an additional one hour from the expiry time shown on their pay and display ticket for no extra charge in all council pay and display car parks.
Cabinet Member Cllr Tom Williams welcomed this concession saying, “We hope this small but significant concession will make our town centres and other public spaces even more accessible for blue badge holders, and I’m sure it will be welcomed by all concerned”.
Customers are reminded that they must display their blue badge and pay and display ticket in order to take advantage of the concession, and the concession is solely for pay and display car parks – and does not apply to residents’ only or limited waiting car parks.
New signs/tariff boards will shortly be erected in the car parks to notify customers of the concession, with the new concession set to come into force from 6th February 2017.
To apply for a blue badge online, please visit www.gov.uk/apply-blue-badge. There are other websites that will handle an application, but these charge a fee and will not provide a faster or more preferential service. A blue badge is free of charge in Wales, and residents will not be charged a fee through using the official website.
Caerphilly county borough residents can also call 01443 866571 to make an appointment with a Customer Services Advisor at any of the council’s Customer Service Centres.
