Golden oldies enjoy a day at the fair

Hot dogs, candyfloss and marshmallows, coconut shies, carnival cut outs and hook-a-duck tents were all part Y Plas residential home’s Day at the Fair. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

The 30 residents enjoyed a lazy sunny afternoon with all the fun of the fair and goodies dished up by one of the nation’s acclaimed top care home chefs, Kevin Beebe. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

Y Plas is run by Carmarthenshire County Council. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

Executive board member for social care, Cllr Jane Tremlett, joined in fun in the sun day and said it was heartening to see so many happy faces and hearty appetites. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

“All compliments to the staff who dressed up and joined in the spirit and fun of the occasion to make this such a special event for the residents in the wonderful setting of the grounds of their home,” she said. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

Home manager, Jayne Gingell, said: “The residents loved it. There is something very special about al fresco eating especially when you have a champion cook like Kevin.” ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​
