Award-winning crime writer Ann Cleeves wrote a special murder mystery script ‘Bannocks and Blood’, and the Phoenix Theatre group have planned the mysterious and eventful evening on behalf of Carmarthenshire libraries. ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌

Visitors will be able to take part in the re-enactment of a murder to see if they can play detective and solve the crime. After the confession is read, a prize will be awarded to the audience member closest to solving the murder. Copies of Ann’s books will be available on the night. ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌

Ammanford Library will host the event on Wednesday February 15, Carmarthen Library on Thursday February 16, and the final event will be held in Llanelli on Friday February 17. All events will start at 7.30pm. They are free but booking is required. ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌

Ann Cleeves worked as a probation officer, bird observatory cook and auxiliary coastguard before writing. She is a member of ‘Murder Squad’, working with other northern writers to promote crime fiction. In 2006 Ann was awarded the Duncan Lawrie Dagger (CWA Gold Dagger) for Best Crime Novel for ‘Raven Black’. ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌

The script has been provided by publishers PanMacmillan, in association with The Reading Agency. ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌

Carmarthenshire County Council executive board member for regeneration and leisure Cllr Meryl Gravell said: “We are very excited to host this event. It will bring a new audience into Carmarthenshire libraries and is sure to be an enjoyable evening watching visitors taking part in witness statements, forensic reports, and of course guessing whodunit.” ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌
