Employment Training Scheme Now Available Yn Y Gymraeg
A free employment training scheme in Merthyr Tydfil is now available for local residents through the medium of Welsh.
Working Skills for Adults 2 (WSfA2), which is funded by the European Social Fund, supports working people who would like to improve their work-related skills or are thinking about a change of career.
There is a wide range of community-based courses available in areas such as food hygiene, IT, business administration, hair and beauty, first aid, manual handling, maths and English. And the project has a dedicated Employee Liaison Officer who can help people identify the training they require.
Merthyr Tydfil County Borough Council officer and Welsh speaker Llŷr Evans wanted to update his CV to increase his confidence to allow him to apply for a broader range of jobs.
“As a Welsh speaker I was more than pleased to see that I was able to complete the course through the Welsh language,” Llŷr said. “The training service offered by the tutors was excellent, and I now have an English and Welsh CV that is contemporary and relevant.”
The European Social Fund project, which is managed by Merthyr Tydfil County Borough Council, provides flexible training which can be fit in around work commitments and includes one-to-one sessions.
Anyone who would like to find out if they are eligible for support should contact the WSfA2 team on 01685 727070, email WSFA2@merthyr.gov.uk or go to Facebook: Working Skills for Adults 2 Merthyr Tydfil.
