Temporary Closure of Northbound Lane on Afan Way in Aberavon for Drainage Works and Highway Maintenance
Part of a busy Neath Port Talbot road is set to be temporarily closed this month while drainage works and highway maintenance are carried out.
A public notice says a traffic order will be put in place for part of the northbound lane on Afan Way in Aberavon for two weeks.
The notice says the temporary closure will be put in place to carry out drainage works in the road as well as for the highway authority to carry out any ancillary highway maintenance works.
It says: “The Order will come into force on the 23rd April 2026 and shall continue in force for a maximum duration of 18 months, or until the works are completed whichever is the sooner.
“It is estimated that the works will take 2 weeks to complete.
“Afan Way will be closed from the junction of Water Street in a southerly direction for a distance of 180m along its length.
“The alternative route for vehicular traffic north bound on Afan Way will be via Harbour Way, Harbourside Road & Water Street.
“Access for emergency services and pedestrians will be maintained.”
