Children Have Fun In Community Sports Day
Pembroke Community Sports Club Open Day was held on Saturday (25th June) at Pembroke Leisure Centre.
The day was a huge success with nearly 200 children and their parents or guardians attending.
The event was supported by eleven local clubs, including boxing, karate, Irish dance, cheerleading, netball, rugby, cricket, archery, weightlifting and squash – and the Pembrokeshire Paddlers who came straight from Broad Haven Triathlon that morning!
Many of the clubs brought along junior members who did demonstrations and helped with taster sessions.
Also there were sport development officers from Sport Pembrokeshire, and representatives of Pembroke leisure centre.
The event was sponsored by Morrisons, who provided fruit and water, and Tesco. It was also supported by Boots pharmacy in Haverfordwest who supplied information on healthy living and healthy eating.
All clubs generated new interest and some have already seen their junior membership numbers increase.
A similar event is planned for Milford Haven at the start of October.
