What A Week At Lido Ponty!

An amazing 16,500 swimmers have already visited Lido Ponty, the National Lido of Wales, in the first three weeks of its 2016 season. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

With more than 7,300 visitors during the two-week Easter school holidays in March/April, Lido Ponty has welcomed a further 9,200 visitors since the launch of its 15-week summer season on Saturday, May 28 – just over a week ago. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

Each and every one of these swimmers has taken full advantage of the FREE swimming in the summer sunshine at the Council’s newest tourist attraction. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

Lido Ponty, situated in the picturesque Ynysangharad War Memorial Park, Pontypridd, is Wales’ premier outdoor water attraction for all the family, offering something for all ages. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

Cllr Ann Crimmings, Cabinet Member for the Environment, Leisure and Culture, said: “The Whitsun school holidays were absolutely fantastic, with almost every swim session filled to capacity and Lido Play also attracting thousands of visitors – and this is just the start of our summer season. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

Lido Ponty is open daily 7:30am to 7:15pm, starting with lane swimming sessions followed by casual swim and activities sessions seven-days-a-week until September 11. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

Lido Ponty has three heated swimming pools (main pool, activity pool and splash pool) offering great opportunities for families, dedicated swimmers, social swimmers and thrill-seekers of all ages and abilities whatever the weather. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

Also on offer are a range of activities which include Aqua Scooterz, Aqua Peddlerz and Water Walkerz which are available for £2.50 per person and can also be booked and paid for online. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

Lido Ponty, the National Lido of Wales, is the only facility of its kind in Wales and is Wales’ premier outdoor pool attraction and adventure play park. Admission is FREE for all ages during 2016. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

Features at Lido Ponty include external and internal showers, heated indoor changing facilities, original wooden outdoor changing cubicles and a state-of-the-art Visitors’ Centre which tells the amazing story of The National Lido of Wales. It is also home to Lido Play, an amazing outdoor childrens’ adventure park. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

Lido Ponty is available for club or private hire Mondays to Sundays and is also the perfect setting for private functions such as weddings and birthdays. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​
