Partnership Working Shows Positive Results For Fernhill Residents
South Wales Police have been working with our partner agencies and residents to address issues in the Fernhill Estate.
In the summer there were concerns from local residents that anti-social behaviour and crime was increasing on the estate.
Local police arranged a meeting with the local authority, housing provider, fire service and our anti-social behaviour team to look at the concerns.
Deputy Local Police Inspector Jo Jones said: “During the meeting there was a real willingness from all partners to address the concerns of residents.
“Each agency attending took away actions which were carried out having a significant immediate impact on the community.”
The police launched Operation Violet Cobra to address drug dealing and a number of arrests have been made and significant amount of drugs recovered.
The local housing provider, Trivallis, has worked with the police to take positive action against breaches of tenancy and carried out residents meetings and the fire service carried out visits offering advice to tenants.
DPI Jones added: “After months of positive action we are hoping residents are feeling safer on the estate and criminals have received a clear message that they will be targeted and caught.
“This work will continue and we would urge any residents with any concerns to let us know so we can all work together to address them.”
