Media Students Raise Money For Hospital Radio Glamorgan
USW students studying Radio got to ‘take-over’ the University Hospital of Wales radio station Radio Glamorgan and work with USW graduate and Radio Glamorgan coordinator Jamie Pritchard.
In exchange for the experience the students agreed to raise money for the charity which they did by organising a quiz night and setting up a Just Giving page for donations.
Clare Sinclair, the chair of Radio Glamorgan commented: “ The money raised by USW students will help us to continue to maintain an up to date studio and equipment for the station. The funds they raise will also help us achieve our main objective, which is to make the patients stay in hospital as pleasant and stress free as possible.”
Course leader Julie Kissick added “Working on a hospital radio station and broadcasting live to the patients and staff at University Hospital of Wales was an invaluable experience for these students. They go into their final academic year in September & they’ll be responsible for running Exposure Radio (@ExposureUSW) so this was a taste of what’s to come. Jamie graduated four years ago and his support and feedback was useful too. Radio Glamorgan do a sterling job of entertaining and informing people who rely on them at often very difficult times in their lives. I’m proud that we were not only able to contribute to their programmes but also raise some funds to help the work they do.”
