Stephanie Daly, a second year Visual Effects student, has been keeping herself busy since breaking up for the summer period by working as a freelance matte painter at one of Cardiff’s leading boutique Motion Design and Visual Effects studios. ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌

Bait Studio already has a strong relationship with the Animation and Visual Effects courses at USW, and initially made contact with Stephanie after she applied for a work experience opportunity. ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌

Following a successful short term placement, she was offered a fully paid junior freelance position during the summer period on feature animation Ethel & Ernest. ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌

Creative Producer Peter Rogers said: “We were really impressed with Steph’s work and her attitude when she did a placement with us. As a true boutique studio, our work is very collaborative and she fitted in straight away, gaining real world experience during her studies as part of our team. We look forward to working with her more in the future. I’m sure she has a bright future ahead of her when she graduates.” ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌

Course Leader Jason Bevan added: “Bait Studio has offered countless of our graduates opportunities for their first steps into the industry over many many years, so to hear they have taken on one of our students on such a great project, in the middle of their degree, is a huge compliment to the standard we are trying to aspire to and only cements our relationship further.” ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌

Stephanie said: “It was fantastic to get real work experience during my studies and was a great opportunity getting to work in a professional studio, so I can’t thank Bait Studio enough. I really got the chance to learn how a VFX pipeline works, as well as how to work well within a team – all while improving my skills.” ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌
