Appeal For Info Follows Fear Of Dog Poisoning Attempt In Central Cardiff
An appeal for information has been launched by RSPCA Cymru, after a substance poisonous to dogs was found in a container in a Cardiff garden.
Food was found in the container, mixed with a substance believed to be rat poison, in the garden of a Daviot Street property in the Roath area of the city on 12 December. Two dogs – named Troy and Storm – live at the property.
The owner of the dogs believes the substance was hidden amidst food and left out deliberately in an attempt to poison her dogs.
Fortunately, the owner identified the substance before her dog had the opportunity to consume it – and RSPCA Cymru is now urging anyone within the local area with any relevant information to contact the charity.
RSPCA inspector Annie Simmonds said:
“Poisoning a dog deliberately is a criminal offence. It’s hard to believe why anyone would seek to act in this way – but we are very concerned by reports of what could be such an attempt in the Roath area of Cardiff.
