South Wales RSPCA Inspector To Join The SPCA In Bermuda For One Year

A South Wales RSPCA inspector is jetting off to become the new SPCA inspector in Bermuda. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

Inspector Chris Coleman, who this September will have been with the RSPCA for 29 years, will be joining the SPCA in Bermuda next week for one year. She will become Bermuda’s only inspector and will also have management responsibilities for their animal shelter. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

“I’m looking forward to a new challenge and to utilise the skills I have gained over the years,” said Chris, whose current patch is Swansea Valley, parts of the Amman Valley and Brecon. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

“It is going to be an exciting new venture and will be a mixture of two of my favourite things, animal welfare and travel. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

“It is a one-year contract where I will be the island inspector. I’ve never been to Bermuda before, it is only 21 miles from top to bottom so it will be much smaller than my patch now, but there will be plenty to do. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

Chris first started with the RSPCA in Manchester and has also worked in Winchester, Petersfield. She was also an inspector in Southampton for 15 years before moving to the Swansea/Carmarthenshire area in 2009. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

Chris said she will of course miss her colleagues and the rolling hills of Wales. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

“I will miss the countryside and the Welsh mountains and of course my colleagues. But this will be a unique opportunity and I’m thrilled to bits to have been chosen for this role.” ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​
