Cemetery And Crematorium Service Shortlisted For National Performance Award
Conwy County Borough Council’s Cemetery and Crematorium Service has been shortlisted for a national performance award.
They are one of seven finalists in the Association of Public Service Excellence (APSE) Awards for ‘Best Service Team’. The Awards recognise Councils who can demonstrate excellence in delivering services to communities, along with innovation and improvement.
Conwy’s submission for the award highlighted a number of areas including:
• Achieving the Charter for the Bereaved gold accreditation from the Institute of Cemetery and Crematorium Management;
• Refurbishment of the Crematorium and re-opening of the cemetery chapel at Bron-Y-Nant;
• Digitisation of the Book of Remembrance, so that it can be viewed at any time and from anywhere in the world.
Cllr Dave Cowans, Cabinet Member for Highways, Environment and Sustainability, said, “I’m very proud of the service that the Cemetery and Crematorium staff offer to residents and it’s gratifying that they have had their work recognised by being shortlisted for this award.”
The winner will be announced on 8 September at ceremony in Londonderry, Northern Ireland.
