Appeal Following Gwersyllt Fire Incident
Police are appealing to a group of youths who left the scene of a fire to come forwards.
At around 5.30am on Friday June 3 a group of up to 15 youths were on the Gwersyllt cricket pitch as a small fire burnt in a nearby school outbuilding at Ysgol Bro Alun.
The emergency services attended, but the youths had disappeared. The fire had been lit on the floor of a dis-used wooden out building and was not seriously damaged.
DI Lee Boycott from Wrexham CID said; “Investigations continue into the fire, which we believe was deliberate, and I would ask anyone within the group of youths, or their families, to come forward.
“I believe the large gathering in the early in the morning must have been pre-arranged.
“I would like the youths to come forward so we can speak to them about what happened. Forensic enquiries are ongoing and I would urge the group to make contact.
“Similarly anyone in the area who may have seen anything suspicious or has any information please contact Wrexham CID dialling 101 quoting incident U080515.”
