Man Sentenced For Causing Death Without Due Care And Attention
Yesterday (Wednesday, 1st February) a man was sentenced following a fatal road traffic collision which happened near Corwen in February 2016.
Sadly, 84-year-old Mair Evans died shortly after the collision, which occurred on the A494 in Glanrafon on February 25th, and involved three vehicles.
The driver of one of the vehicles involved, 33-year-old Robert Michael McEwing, who is from the Bolton area of Lancashire, was sentenced to a 16 week prison sentence, suspended for two years, disqualified from driving for 2 years, has to complete 200 hours of unpaid work within the next 12 months and ordered to pay costs.
Fatal Enquiry Officer, PC Arwyn Phillips from the Roads Policing Unit said: “McEwing now has to live with the knowledge that his actions has resulted in the death of a much loved lady.
“This is a tragic case that once again shows how vitally important it is for motorists to give their complete and unreserved attention while driving on the roads.
“Our thoughts remain with Mrs Evans’ family at this difficult time.”
