Man Sentenced For Causing Death Without Due Care And Attention

Yesterday (Wednesday, 1st February) a man was sentenced following a fatal road traffic collision which happened near Corwen in February 2016. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

Sadly, 84-year-old Mair Evans died shortly after the collision, which occurred on the A494 in Glanrafon on February 25th, and involved three vehicles. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

The driver of one of the vehicles involved, 33-year-old Robert Michael McEwing, who is from the Bolton area of Lancashire, was sentenced to a 16 week prison sentence, suspended for two years, disqualified from driving for 2 years, has to complete 200 hours of unpaid work within the next 12 months and ordered to pay costs. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

Fatal Enquiry Officer, PC Arwyn Phillips from the Roads Policing Unit said: “McEwing now has to live with the knowledge that his actions has resulted in the death of a much loved lady. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

“This is a tragic case that once again shows how vitally important it is for motorists to give their complete and unreserved attention while driving on the roads. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​
