Appeal For Information After Two Burglaries In Llanhilleth, Abertillery
Gwent Police are appealing for information following two burglaries in the Llanhilleth area this week.
The first took place on Hafodarthen Road, Llanhilleth, at approximately 3.45am on Wednesday 1st June 2016. (Log: 49 01/06/2016)
The occupant was awoken by someone going through property downstairs in the living room .
Having been disturbed, the occupant made their way downstairs to discover a man was escaping through the front door.
He is described as a white male, approximately 5ft 6, slim build. He was wearing a dark grey beanie hat with two burgundy stripes going all the way around the hat. He was also wearing a dark coloured zip up jacket, black bottoms and a pair of light grey soled trainers.
The second burglary took place on Meadow Street, Llanhilleth sometime overnight between 31st May and 1st June 2016 (Log: 92 01/06/2016)
During the offence, a wallet containing cash and various visa cards were taken as well as a set of vehicle keys which were then used to open and search through the victim’s car parked outside his address.
The incident took place at sometime between 11.30pm on 31st May 2016 and 6.30am on 1st June 2016.
Anyone who has any information regarding this burglary is asked to call Gwent Police on 101, quoting the log number or anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
Advice from Gwent Police
– Make sure that all doors are locked and secured at all times and especially at night.
– Notify a friend or neighbour if you are going to be away from the property.
– Report any suspicious persons that may be taking a particular interest in a property
– Do not approach or question anyone that may be acting suspiciously report it to the police by ringing 999 in an emergency or 101 for general advice.
– These incidents are rare, however can be prevented significantly by following the above advice.
