Appeal For Information Following Numerous Cases Of Criminal Damage To The Barriers At Whitewall In Magor
We are appealing for information following numerous cases of criminal damage to the barriers at Whitewall in Magor.
The most recent offence was reported this morning however many other offences of a similar nature have been reported to police four times previously.
The site is the un-named lane running from Pill Farm in Whitewall to the sea wall. At the end of the lane is a parking area where vehicles can park and walk up onto the sea wall.
The car park has two heavy duty steel barriers either side to prevent vehicular access onto the sea wall.
They have been erected by Natural Resources Wales to prevent environmental damage to the sea wall by vehicles.
In all incidents the offenders have cut the barriers with a disc cutter or similar to allow vehicular access.
This costs Natural Resources Wales approximately £500.00 each time to repair.
The barriers cannot be replaced with a more permanent solution as access is needed by the local farmer.
If anyone has any information regarding these incidents please call 101 quoting log 73 09/01/2017.
