Officers In Alway Prevent Youngsters At Somerton Primary Causing Criminal Damage By Showing Them The Consequences…
The ‘Price Tag’ road-show saw officers teaching youngsters about the effects of criminal damage for the victim and offender by answering some simple questions on the repair costs.
From a smashed windscreen to a broken wing mirror the pupils were asked how much they think it would cost to replace and also what could be the consequences for them if they committed this crime.
Local Sergeant Jamie Jones said: “This initiative has proved to be a great success. It has enabled us to engage youngsters and raise their awareness as to the real consequences of criminal damage.
While it may be seen by some as a relatively minor crime, the consequences of it certainly shouldn’t be underestimated. Great work by all at Somerton, and thanks for having me and CSOs Rachel Smith and Alex Donne.”
If you know someone responsible for causing damage, or suspect that damage is being committed, please contact Gwent Police on 101 or 999 in an emergency.
