Rogue Trader Operating In Risca
We’re asking residents to be extra vigilant and to look out for elderly or vulnerable neighbours following a report of a rogue trader operating in the Risca area.
Two men in a Peugeot van called at an address last Wednesday (22nd June) and told the elderly occupants that work was needed to their roof and guttering.
A significant amount of money was handed over and the work completed was not to that value.
Officers are investigating the incident and in the meantime are reminding residents to always say ‘no’ to any traders who unexpectedly turn up on your doorstep offering to carry out work.
If you are getting work done on your home…
– always get written quotes from at least two reputable traders for any work
– always agree the price, payment arrangements and start/finish dates in writing before any work starts
– don’t pay in full until you’re completely satisfied with the work
– make sure your home and belongings are kept safe and secure during works.
If you have any concerns relating to rogue traders in your area, please call 101.
