We Are Excited To Announce We Are Introducing The Latest Technology In Our Work To Keep Our Communities Safe And Fight Crime In Gwent
We are excited to announce we are introducing the latest technology in our work to keep our communities safe and fight crime in Gwent.
We have now been granted our permissions from the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) which will allow us to use unmanned aircrafts at live police incidents.
At this time, whilst in the project phase we will be self-tasking the aircraft and attending selected operational incidents in order to test the aircrafts ability and suitability prior to being tasked through the Force Control Room.
Over the next few months we are hoping the drones will help us to carry out a wide range of tasks, including but not limited to assisting with searches for missing people, policing large scale events, tackling anti-social behaviour and rural crime as well as keeping our officers safe.
Drones are used by many and we hope they’ll offer our front line officers a different perspective on policing.
We currently have fourteen trained pilots and their skills will soon be used to detect and deter crime across Gwent.
