Help Kick Start Your Business At Newport Pop-Up School
Free workshops are to be held in Newport to help budding entrepreneurs start their own business, build websites and begin trading.
Last year, Newport City Council established a business development fund, and one of it its commitments was to bring PopUp Business School to the city.
From 27 February to 10 March, novice traders and established companies can get some top tips on using the latest tools and techniques from the experts at workshops in The Gallery, Newport Market.
The event will be opened by the Leader of Newport City Council, Councillor Debbie Wilcox.
Anyone can book a free place on the course and find out more in skill-building sessions including how to build a website for free, how to start a business with no money and how to find customers through social media.
The workshops will cover every aspect of starting, owning and running a business, as well as providing one-to-one support wherever possible, and continuing online support to all participants after the event.
PopUp Business School’s pioneering start-up team all run their own ventures and have a proven track record of helping others become self-employed.
As well as the council, other partners for the event are Newport City Homes, Business Wales, Communities First, Newport Now, Charter Housing, Monmouthshire Housing Association and Jobcentre Plus.

Councillor John Richards, Newport City Council’s Cabinet Member for Regeneration and Investment, said: “I’m delighted that we have been able to arrange for the PopUp Business School to come to the city and offer this valuable assistance to local people who want to do business in Newport.
“The opportunity to win a free market stall is also a great initiative and I’m sure we will have some brilliant and vibrant new business ideas coming forward from people.
“As a council, we are pleased that we are able to offer these initiatives and our business support team can also offer a range of assistance to both start-up and established businesses.”
