10-Year Car Park Ban For City Thief

A Cardiff man has been banned from all car parks in England and Wales for 10 years – once he has served his two year prison sentence. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

Mark Bevan, 34, from Caerau, admitted breaking into six cars across Cardiff and asked for a further 36 similar offences to be taken into consideration when he was sentenced at Cardiff Crown Court earlier this month. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

Bevan was arrested by police after a car crime victim noticed his stolen iPod for sale on E-Bay. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

When officers checked Bevan’s E-Bay account for the previous 12 months there were able to link items he was advertising for sale, to car breaks in Cardiff. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

Warrants were executed at his home address and also a relative’s where they found the stolen items including an NHS laptop, Bluetooth speakers, and Sat Navs. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

All the items recovered by police have since been returned to the rightful owners. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

Officer in the case, Pc Jamie Comey, who is based at Cardiff Central Police Station, said: “This individual caused upset, frustration, and inconvenience to the people of Cardiff and we were delighted to be able to not only bring him to justice but also return stolen items to their owners.
“His arrest, subsequent prison sentence and additional Criminal Behaviour Order, should send a message to anyone else thinking of committing auto crime in Cardiff. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

The condition of the order is not to enter any car park in England and Wales unless to gain access to a vehicle with the implied or expressed consent of the owner. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​
