Wales achieves 100% compliance, with all fans subject to a banning order surrendering their passport. ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌

Prior to fans heading to watch Euro 2016, United Kingdom Football Policing Unit (UKFPU) sent letters to all Welsh fans across South Wales subject to banning orders to remind them to surrender their passports to the police by 7pm June 1st – or risk being arrested. ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌

South Wales Police Chief Inspector Stephen Jones said: ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌

“This is a positive step forward for the policing operation linked to Euro 2016. 100% compliance means that those who have previously engaged in football related violence and disorder will not spoil the experience for those law abiding passionate football supporters who want to travel and enjoy the tournament. ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌

“We want Euro 2016 to be a safe and enjoyable experience for those in France and back in Wales celebrating within our night time economy. Remember, Know the Score #DrinkLessEnjoyMore. Don’t let alcohol related or other violent behaviour ruin your Euro 2016” ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌

South Wales Police in consultation with all Welsh police forces has created a dedicated Twitter account for Euro 2016 (@WalesPoliceEuro). The account is monitored by officers and staff based in Wales and France. Reliable information relating to the tournament will be published on this account for the general public. ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌

For those Welsh supporters travelling the French government has launched a free smartphone app to alert users about possible security incidents in France, including all major natural, technological and terrorist-related risks. Users will be able to view alerts for up to eight geographical areas. The app, called SAIP (Système d’alerte et d’information des populations), is available in English and French. You can download the app by entering the term ‘SAIP’ in the Apple App store or Google Play. ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌
