Graphics Graduate Clare Secures Role With Spindogs, Cardiff
Clare Treverrow graduated from BA (Hons) Graphic Communication this year and is already working with Cardiff-based agency Spindogs.
“It’s really exciting” commented Clare. “The main focus for us is web design, but we get to work with a variety of clients and a range of projects and we do also have a branding and print projects too”.
Speaking about how the course helped Clare prepare for her first design job: “Live briefs on a tight deadline such as Afrasia and Interhigh really helped us to get used to a more fast paced realistic environment. As much as I found pitching our work challenging, it was actually crucial and helped build our confidence and experience with real clients.
“The other thing we did that was so helpful was mock interviews and portfolio reviews which kicked us into action to sort out our portfolios and get an idea of where we want to be in the industry in order to make a good impression!”
Graphic Communication lecturer Liam Collins commented: “We prepare a range of experiences for our students so that they’re ready to hit the ground running when they start work. For example, the live briefs, industry talks and portfolio surgeries that form part of the course all help with this”.
One of the highlights for Clare was the end of year show, she said. ” I loved that we were able to have an active role in organising it and enjoyed the opportunity of getting industry in to talk about our work. Scary but so much fun!”
