Everyone Has A Role To Play In Safeguarding Vulnerable Adults And Children

During National Safeguarding Week (14th – 18th November 2016) we want to raise the public’s awareness of safeguarding and how we can all play a role in supporting vulnerable people. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

To mark National Safeguarding Week, the North Wales Safeguarding Board has organised events focusing on safeguarding adults. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

There will be information displays at locations throughout North Wales, which will give a range of agencies an opportunity to provide information about their services and organisations to members of the public and professionals. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

There will also be an Adult Safeguarding Conference on 17th November focussing on Adult Practice Reviews. Adult Practice Reviews are the process that reviews the actions partners, including health, social care, police and others have taken to safeguard individuals and allows us to learn from our experiences. The recommendations from such reviews can influence how we safeguard people across the region and nationally in the future. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

Neil Ayling, Chair of the North Wales Safeguarding Adults Board, said, “I hope the range of activities and events will increase knowledge about safeguarding issues amongst the public, so that we can all have greater awareness of the issues and that the welfare and safety of adults at risk is protected.” ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​
