Conwy County Borough Council is reminding private Landlords in the County that they have just five weeks until the deadline to register with Rent Smart Wales. ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌

As a result of the Housing Act (Wales) 2014, all private landlords need to register with Rent Smart Wales by 23 November 2016. In addition, self-managing landlords and agents who are involved in letting and management activities will need to undertake training before applying for a licence from Rent Smart Wales ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌

From 23 November 2016, anyone who has not complied with the law can be issued with a fixed penalty, or if taken to court, can be fined. The scheme will be enforced by the Single Licensing Authority (Cardiff City Council) and all Local Authorities in Wales. In Conwy County, this will be the Council’s Regulatory and Housing Services, who have been preparing for the introduction of this new legislation for some time. ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌
