Student Film-Maker Scoops RTS Honour

University of South Wales (USW) BA (Hons) Visual Effects and Motion Graphics student Jordanne Richards scooped a top award at last week’s RTS Student Television Awards 2016. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

Jordanne’s film ‘An Unfortunate End: The Boy & The Fairy’ – which is described as ‘a dark fairy tale, written with originality and enhanced through excellent production design’ – won the Undergraduate Open award at the event. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

Chaired by Philip Edgar-Jones, Director of Sky Arts, the Awards celebrate the best in student television. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

The Undergraduate and Postgraduate Awards are judged in six categories – Animation, Comedy & Entertainment, Drama, Factual, News, and Open. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

In addition, to reward excellence in craft skills, Undergraduate and Postgraduate Awards are presented for Camerawork, Editing and Sound. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

Students from higher education institutions in England, Wales and Northern Ireland picked up awards. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​

Jordanne’s film will be available to watch on Sky Arts On Demand later this year. ‌​‌​‌​​​‍‌​‌​​‌‌‌‍‌​‌‌​​‌​‍‌​‌‌‌​‌‌‍‌​‌‌‌‌​​
